This study looked into the effects of television on academic performance and social behaviour of pre-school children in Tiriki East Division, Hamisi District. Several researches on television viewer ship have been carried out in developed countries. Here in Kenya pre-school children have access to television in many places. Thus there was a need for a research of this kind. The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of television on academic performance and social behaviour of pre-school children in Tiriki East Division, Hamisi District.

Influence of educational policies on access to pre-school education in Kikuyu District Kenya

The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of educational policies on access to pre-school education with regard to parents, pre-school teachers and pre-school children in Kikuyu district. The participants in this study included eight pre-schooL, seven head teachers, fourteen pre-school teachers and fourteen parents. The data was collected through the use of questionnaires and focus group discussion. The data was analyzed through tables, pie charts and graphs. The study findings reviewed that not all children attend pre-school before joining primary school.

The impact of parents' characteristics on access to pre-school education in Baragwi zone Gichugu Division Kirinyaga County, Kenya

Pre- school education prepares children for formal school. Transition from home to school is low in many parts of Kirinyaga County. This calls for an investigation into possible causes. The study aims at determining the effects of parent's characteristics on access to pre school education in Baragwi zone, Gichugu Division in Kirinyaga County. The objectives of the study were to investigate the effects of parent's educational level, income level, marital status and access to pre school education in Baragwi zone.

Effects of instructional materials on children's performance in Science in pre-schools in Muguga division , Kikuyu District, Kenya

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of instructional materials on children's performance in science in pre-schools in Muguga division. This research was carried to find out if there is any relationship between instructional materials and children performance in science. The objectives of this study were; to assess the adequacy of instructional materials, to determine types of instructional materials and investigate how instructional materials are utilized in pre-schools in Muguga.

Effects of television watching on English Language developement of pre-school children in Githurai zone, Ruiru district

This study investigated the effects of television watching on English language development of Pre-school children in Githurai Zone, Ruiru District. There was need to establish whether television watching improved the language development of children especially in English. The objectives of the research were as follows: (i) To determine whether television watching affected oral development of English language of pre-school children in Githurai Zone, Ruiru District.

Effects of feeding programme on the enrolment of pre-school children in Kibera Slum, Nairobi County

The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of feeding programme on the enrolment of pre-school children in Kibera slums. The objectives of the study included assessment of the effects of type of food provided on the enrolment of pre-school children in Kibera slums; establishment of effects of the type of food provided on the health of pre-school children; assessment of the effects nutritional value of the food provided on the enrolment of pre-school children in Kibera slums and determining the amount of the food provided on the enrolment of preschool children in Kibera slums.

Determinants of job satisfaction among pre school teachers in Garbatula District, Kenya

This research sought to establish the determinants of pre-school teachers' job satisfaction in Garbatulla district, Kenya. The specific objectives of the study were to find the relationship between training, supervision and pay of pre- school teachers and job satisfaction, The study used questionnaires for head teachers and pre-school teachers respectively to determine pre-school teachers' levels of job satisfaction. Twenty eight (28). head teachers and twenty eight (28) pre- school teachers were respondents.

Impact of children’s own investigations on performance in preschool science activities in East Division of Isiolo District, Kenya

The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of Children’s own investigations on performance in pre-school science Activities in East Division, Isiolo District. A quasiexperimental research design was used to conduct the study. Ten pre-schools in East Division, Isiolo District, were sampled of which five of them were in the experimental group and five in the control group. All the children, aged 5-6 years, in the experimental and control pre-schools were sampled. Data was collected both in classroom and outdoor learning environments.

Effect Of Reflective Teaching On The Performance Of Pre-School Children In Creative Activities In Kikuyu Sub-County, Kenya

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of reflective teaching on the performance of pre-school children in creative activities in Kikuyu sub-county, Kiambu County. The study method used was experimental design. The focus was on five (5) pre-schools with 146 children and 11 pre-school teachers. Data was collected using questionnaires for the pre-school teachers. The children were tested in creative activities before the study and again after two weeks of teaching.

The objectives of the study were; to determine the influence of parents‘ income level on enrolment of pre-school children, to determine the influence of parents‘ academic level on enrolment of pre-school children, to determine the influence of family size on enrolment of pre-school children, to determine the influence of parents‘ marital status on enrolment of pre-school children in Mwingi Zone.
